Safari destination

East Africa
Tanzania holds some of the most varied and concentrated natural landscapes on the African continent. The northern circuit alone covers four very different ecosystems within a single overland journey. Kilimanjaro rises above everything at 5,895 metres. Each of these destinations has its own character, its own wildlife or cultural draw, and its own best time to visit. The pages below give you a practical introduction to each one - what it is, what you can do there, and how it fits into a Tanzania itinerary.

Tanzania at a Glance

The dry season from June to October is the most reliable time for wildlife viewing across the northern circuit. January to March brings the calving season to the southern Serengeti. Kilimanjaro can be climbed year-round but January-February and July-September have the best summit weather.

Most visitors to the northern circuit travel overland in a 4WD safari vehicle. Domestic flights connect the Serengeti airstrips and Kilimanjaro International Airport. Moshi and Arusha are the two main bases for the northern circuit - we arrange all airport and inter-destination transfers.

The northern circuit parks connect naturally as an overland route. Kilimanjaro adds a distinct experience before or after a safari. We plan itineraries that connect both within a single journey.
