Sending a large deposit to a company in another country takes trust, especially when you are planning a climb or safari you may only do once. So this page sets out who we are, what we have and have not done yet, and how you can check us before you pay anything.

Who runs Kijaniwazi Tours?

Kijaniwazi Tours is a Tanzanian tour operator owned by Pastory Highmagway Paschal. The business was registered with BRELA, Tanzania's Business Registration and Licensing Agency, on September 11, 2026, under Reg. No. 715317. We also hold TALA Licence No. 545789, Tanzania's license for tourism businesses. In Swahili, kijani means green and wazi means open or clear.

Our office is in Moshi, the town at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, on the 3rd floor of the WMA (Weights and Measures Agency) Building on Mawenzi Road. Moshi is about an hour by road from Kilimanjaro International Airport, and it is where most Kilimanjaro climbs begin. We focus on three things: Kilimanjaro climbs, Tanzania safaris and day trips from Moshi and Arusha.

A new Tanzania tour company: what that means for you

We would rather say this plainly: the company is new, so you won't find years of reviews or summit statistics here. We won't publish numbers or testimonials we can't stand behind. If a long public track record matters most to you, an older company may suit you better.

What we do offer is an experienced team, with guides who have spent 7 years on Tanzania tours. You also get published prices you can compare, and direct contact with the people running your trip.

Who will guide you in Tanzania?

Our guides are graduates of two Tanzanian institutions, and they are certified by both. The College of African Wildlife Management at Mweka, on the southern slopes of Kilimanjaro, is one of the best-known wildlife training colleges in Africa. The National College of Tourism is Tanzania's public college for tourism and hospitality training.

Training matters on both trips. On a game drive, it helps your guide read animal behavior and explain what you are watching. On the mountain, it helps your guide spot the signs of altitude sickness early.

How we run Kilimanjaro climbs

We operate all five main routes: Machame, Lemosho, Marangu, Rongai and the 9-day Northern Circuit. Every climber always has one guide, five porters and one cook, whatever the size of your group. We are a partner of the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP), which works to improve how porters are treated.

We carry pulse oximeters to track your blood-oxygen levels, emergency oxygen cylinders and a Gamow bag for advanced altitude sickness. Helicopter evacuation is available through providers including Kili MedAir and Proflight Helicopters, starting from $3,500 per person. Your hotel before the climb is mid-range by default, unless you choose otherwise.

How we run Tanzania safaris

You travel in a 4WD Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, clear windows for wildlife viewing and comfortable seats. Your vehicle and guide are private, so your group decides how long to stay at a sighting. Airport transfers are included in the price. We offer nine itineraries of 2 to 10 days through Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, with budget, mid-range and luxury lodging.

On our 8 and 10-day trips, you finish with a flight from Arusha to Zanzibar. The flight is included, but the Zanzibar hotel is not, and we can suggest one. If you would rather share a vehicle or join a climb group to meet others, we will check with trusted partners whose departures match your dates, at the same price, with nothing added.

How to check a Tanzania tour operator before you pay

These checks work for any company you are considering, including us. They take little time, and they are worth doing before you send a deposit.

  • Ask for the license and registration. A Tanzanian operator should be able to give you a TALA license number and a business registration number. Ours are TALA No. 545789 and BRELA No. 715317, and you can ask us for copies.
  • Find out who you are dealing with. Look for a named owner and a physical office. You can visit ours in Moshi.
  • Get the price in writing. Your quote should list what is and is not included, and your confirmation should state the deposit and due dates. See our booking terms.
  • On Kilimanjaro, ask about the crew and safety. Ask how many staff you will have, what emergency equipment they carry and how porters are treated. A very low price often means corners are being cut somewhere. Our Kilimanjaro cost guide explains what to look for.
  • On safari, ask about the vehicle. Check whether it is private, how many people it carries and whether it has a pop-up roof. Our safari cost guide covers how to compare quotes.
