Booking Terms

These booking terms explain how booking with Kijaniwazi Tours works. Please read them alongside our full Terms and Conditions. Each trip page lists what its price includes, and your booking confirmation sets out the final details for your trip.

How to book

All bookings begin with an inquiry by email, phone, WhatsApp or the quote request form on this website. We will respond with a proposed itinerary and price. Once you agree to proceed, we issue a booking confirmation and deposit invoice. Your booking is held, but not confirmed, until we receive the deposit.

Deposits

A deposit is required to confirm your booking and secure your dates. The amount varies by tour type and is stated in your booking confirmation. For Kilimanjaro climbs, the deposit goes toward park permit reservations, which must be paid to the national park in advance. For safaris, it goes toward lodging reservations and vehicle allocation.

Balance payment

The balance is due before departure, by the date stated in your booking confirmation. We will send a reminder before that date. Some parts of your trip, such as park fees and lodging, may already have been paid on your behalf, and these cannot be recovered if we do not receive the balance.

What is included

Your booking confirmation states exactly what is included in your trip. Read it carefully, and contact us right away if anything is unclear. Unless your confirmation says otherwise, these are the typical inclusions:

Kilimanjaro climbs

  • Return airport transfer in Tanzania, and transport between Moshi and the park gates
  • Two nights in a mid-range hotel in Moshi, before and after the climb
  • Park fees, including entry, camping or hut fees, and rescue fees
  • One guide, five porters and one cook for each climber
  • Three meals a day and drinking water on the mountain
  • Tents, a dining tent and sleeping mats, or bunk beds and mattresses on the Marangu Route
  • Pulse oximeter checks, emergency oxygen and a Gamow bag
  • A pre-climb briefing in Moshi

Safaris

  • A private 4WD Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, and your driver-guide
  • A return airport transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport. On our 8 and 10-day Zanzibar trips, the arrival transfer is included, along with the flight from Arusha to Zanzibar.
  • Park and conservation fees on your itinerary, and the Ngorongoro Crater vehicle fee
  • Lodging and meals as your itinerary describes
  • Drinking water in the vehicle

Day trips

Day trip inclusions vary, so check the list on each day trip page.

What is not included

Unless your confirmation says otherwise, these are not included:

  • International flights, and domestic flights other than the Zanzibar flight listed above
  • Visa fees and travel insurance
  • Hotel nights other than those on your itinerary, including your Zanzibar hotel and transfers on the island
  • Tips for guides and crew
  • Helicopter evacuation on Kilimanjaro, which starts from $3,500 per person if needed
  • Sleeping bags, trekking poles, clothing and personal gear for your climb
  • Hot-air balloon flights and any other activities not listed on your itinerary
  • Drinks other than water, laundry, phone calls and personal spending

Tipping

Tips are not included in your price and are up to you, but they are an important part of the income of guides, porters, drivers and camp crew in Tanzania. We provide guidance on standard amounts before your trip. You give tips directly to the crew at the end.

Changes to your booking

If you need to change your dates or itinerary after confirmation, contact us as early as possible. We will do our best to make the change, subject to availability and any costs already committed, and your price may change as a result. Changes that shorten or reduce your trip after confirmation may be treated as a partial cancellation under the cancellation policy in our Terms and Conditions.
